Classroom Tip
Storytime 5 is a chance to introduce the language students will focus on in this unit, including: “How are you?” “I’m happy/sad/sleepy/grumpy/hungry”, as well as colors: orange, purple, pink and green. In addition, “What is it?”  is reviewed, adding new fruit vocabulary: apple, orange, plum, peach and banana. As with the Storytimes from Units 2 and 3, before playing the audio version on the CD, have students watch the video. Then, as usual, play the CD and point out the important vocabulary. In the following lessons, either play the video only or the CD only. Before playing, ask students to point to things or say what objects they know; then do it again after. This gives students a chance to talk and show you what they understand. From now, always ask students “How are you?” If they can’t yet say the feelings, let them choose among the flashcards. You can model the correct response for them to repeat. For example, “I’m hungry.” Use the flashcards until they are confident with the vocabulary.
教室でのヒント
ストーリータイム5では、「How are you?」「I’m happy/sad/sleepy/grumpy/hungry」を含むこのユニットのメインの英語の他に、色「orange, purple, pink, green」を取り入れる事が出来ます。更に「What is it?」を新しい果物の単語「apple, orange, plum, peach」を使って復習できます。ユニット2と3のストーリータイムと同じように、CDを聞く前に動画をみせましょう。その後にCDを聞きながら大事な単語に注目させましょう。次のレッスンからは動画またはCDのどちらかだけを使用します。聞く前に生徒に知っているものを指さす、または言ってもらいましょう。その後にもう一度聞きます。これで生徒がどれだけ理解しているかがわかるはずです。今後は毎回「How are you?」と聞きます。また自分の気持ちを言えない場合はフラッシュカードの中から選ばせます。「I’m hungry」など、答えの例を言って復唱させても良いでしょう。自信がつくまではフラッシュカードを使ってください。
At Home Tip
After playing the Hello Song, open the Happy Valley Student Book 1 to Unit 5 Storytime. Watch the video and then point to the objects they saw. Say the fruit and color and count how many there are. While your child may not be able to say the new words at first, after a few times, they will be able to identify the fruit they see. Turn to the next page and point to the same objects. Then, do the homework. In addition, comment on how you are feeling. For example, “I’m hungry,” when you actually are. Also, you can turn to the How Are You Song page in the back of the book to see pictures of the feelings.
If you are not using the book yet, just listen to the story. Ask your child to find fruit that is in your house. Say the color and count how many. Talk about how you are feeling. Ask your child, “How are you?” If they can’t yet say yet, ask them, “Are you happy?” and have them say yes or no. Then model, “I’m happy” until they are confident.
「How are you?」と聞きます。まだ答えられないようなら、「Are you happy?」と聞いて「yes」か「no」で答えさせます。自信がつくまでは「I’m happy」と、答えの例を言ってあげましょう。
